X-Ray Chest – PA View (Posteroanterior)

What is PA View in X-Ray?

The Posteroanterior (PA) view is the standard and most common chest X-ray view, where:

  • The X-ray beam passes from back (posterior) to front (anterior)

  • The patient stands facing the film plate with chest against it

  • Shoulders are rolled forward for a clear lung view

Why PA View is Preferred:

  • Gives a more accurate image of the heart and lungs

  • Reduces magnification of heart size compared to AP (anteroposterior) view

  • Useful for routine screenings and diagnostics
